Time to Volunteer for the Festival

Calling all Indians!

Putting on a big two-day invitational cycling event requires a lot of volunteers, and the Club has been great over the years in providing them.  With the Festival now less than three weeks away, it's time to step up and fill all of those positions! Go to the Volunteer Page for a full list of what is needed.

For the course, we need SAG drivers for both events, a pace car crew for the Horse Farm Hundred, sign retrievers on Saturday, and sign placers on Sunday.

At rest stops, there are a few openings on Saturday, but our biggest need is on Sunday at Flemington.

We need registration workers on Saturday and Sunday mornings (Sunday at Flemington also), and Saturday afternoon.

There are also a few other odds and ends available that you can see on the Volunteer PageEmail Roger Pierce or call 378-7063 to sign up.

Ride the Festival!

We have good news! At this writing, 194 persons have signed up to ride in the Festival. This is up over last year.

The bad news. Only 18 of those riders are Club members who are not volunteering. We have 854 members; to be able to make a good donation to the Boys and Girls Club, we need a LOT more of you to sign up to ride. If only half of the Club rides, we may be able to get back to our traditional donation of $10,000; last year we fell well short.

So even if you aren't able to volunteer, get out and ride! Sign up in the Members Area.

Club Board of Directors Election in January

Each January we have an election to determine who will be on our Board of Directors for the next year. Often, incumbent Board members are not opposed and remain in office.

Members are encouraged to run for positions on the Board. You must have been a member for one year to qualify. Some Board members have been around a long time, and would not mind if someone stepped up to take their place.

This year, Ally Gill is not running for reelection as President, so we definitely need candidates. The Vice President and Publicity Director positions are also currently vacant.

Contact any Board member if you are interested in running, or email Roger Pierce.

Registration is now open for the Pink Pumpkin Pedal-Off. Sign in to the Members Area to register to ensure you get member pricing.

See full information about the event at the Pink Pumpkin page on the club web site. Don't use the Sign Up button on this page, go to the Members Area to get club pricing.

Gravel Cycling Q&A / Bikepacking / Fun Times!

Join JOM of the Gravel Cyclist crew (aka Jayson - former GCC Presidente) and Wayne of Atomik Carbon (promoter of the 2nd Rocks, Roads and Reggae bikepacking event) for a discussion on gravel bikes, equipment selection, training tips, beer drinking and good times. This shindig will take place in the event room at Cypress & Grove Brewing Co. on Friday, October 26, 2018, starting at 6pm.

As a 3-time finisher of Dirty Kanza 200 and many other marquee gravel events, JOM will talk about his experiences, from training, nutrition and equipment selection for gravel cycling or racing, near or far. He will be entertain any questions you may have, so be ready! JOM will have bikes and other equipment on hand for your perusal.

Wayne of Atomik Carbon will be there as well, to talk about the 2nd annual Rocks, Roads and Reggae bikepacking event, scheduled for December 8 and 9, 2018.

Special guests may include K-Dogg of Gravel Cyclist, a former winner of the Dirty Kanza 200 for the 60+ age group, with insights into this type of riding and how to keep it fun!

We look forward to seeing everyone there, with many thanks to our gracious hosts, Cypress & Grove Brewing Company!
