Critical Volunteer Openings

We MUST fill the following positions by October 1 in order to put on the Festival this year. We'll need to cancel one or both events if we cannot get volunteers:

Signing Chief - Plans the placement of signs on the courses, and organizes day-of-event volunteers who place the signs.
Bland Crew Chief - Loads equipment for the Bland rest stop on the Santa Fe Century on Friday, and directs activites at the stop.
Worthington Springs Crew Chief - Loads equipment for the Hague and W.S. Santa Fe rest stops, drops off Hague equipment, and directs activites at W.S.
Flemington Crew Chief - Loads equipment for the Flemington Horse Farm rest stop on Saturday, and directs activies at Flemington.
Course Supervisor - Directs the activities of the SAG drivers, cleans corners before the event as necessary. We must have at least one, would like one for each ride.

We also still need additional middle managers. Contact Roger Pierce email or phone at (352)378-7063 if you can step up for any of the following:

Truck Director - Arrange for rental trucks and manage pick ups, handoffs, and returns.
Equipment Manager - Become familiar with the equipment we use to put on the event. Make/arrange for repairs or replacements as necessary. Assist is planning what equipment is deployed where.
Loadmaster - Learn the plan for deploying equipment and food, and direct the loading of trucks on Friday and Saturday.
Garbage and Recycling Manager - Develop a plan for dealing with garbage and recyclables, and execute it as the trucks arrive on Saturday and Sunday.
T-shirt Design - Design the t-shirt for the Santa Fe Century and/or the Horse Farm Hundred.

In order to put on a Festival in 2019, we'll need to replace some of our top-level managers. It would be very helpful if we could fill the following positions with persons who will take on the full job in 2019:

Associate Director - The current director resigned in 2015, but has continued so that the Festival would continue. It's time for a new director.
Associate Aid Director - The Aid Director takes care of everything that has to do with rest stops.
Assocaite Food Director - The Food Director plans the food offerings at rest stops, buys the food, and prepares it for distribution.

We're also accepting requests for other positions. See the Volunteer Page for full details on what is available and info on free bennies.

Family Friendly Ride

Join the Gainesville Cycling Club for our monthly Family Friendly Ride from Depot Park down the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail to the Lake Alachua Overlook for a 9 mile round trip. A shorter option is to ride to the Sweetwater Overlook, which is a 6 mile round trip. Parents and helmets required. Tag-alongs and bike trailers welcome, but no training wheels. We will meet at the far end of the Depot Park parking lot (the lot by the pavilions). Don't forget your water bottles!

This event is FREE and you do not have to be a member of the Gainesville Cycling Club to ride with us. This event repeats the third Saturday of every month. Bring out the kids on September 15 at 9 am!
