RSVP for Labor Day Picnic

Monday, September 3, Noon

Our last picnic of the summer! Chandler will bring his now famous soft taco bar! AND brats! * BRING * side dishes to complement the main courses and for dessert. We'll find a place for you to help out at the Horse Farm Hundred or Santa Fe Century.

We will provide enough main course for those who RSVP. Please RSVP before the weekend if you will be eating the main course so that we can buy enough food.

Rides should be planned to meet at the park at 9 am; eating will commence by noon.

Boulware Springs is located on SE 15th St. See https://gccfla.org/starts/ridelocboulware.html for more detailed directions. We meet on top of the hill behind the pump house.

RSVP in the Members Area.

Registration is now open for the Gainesville Cycling Festival's Santa Fe Century and Horse Farm Hundred. Sign in to the Members Area to register to ensure you get member pricing. Volunteers wait until your assignment is finalized before registering.

VOLUNTEER!

Right now we're looking for volunteers for a few jobs that need to be done BEFORE we get to the Festival. We need to be able to spread the workload so that we don't "burn out" our core volunteers! Contact Roger Pierce at (352)378-7063 if you can step up for any of the following:

Truck Director - Arrange for rental trucks and manage pick ups, handoffs, and returns.
Equipment Manager - Become familiar with the equipment we use to put on the event. Make/arrange for repairs or replacements as necessary. Assist is planning what equipment is deployed where.
Loadmaster - Learn the plan for deploying equipment and food, and direct the loading of trucks on Friday and Saturday.
Garbage and Recycling Manager - Develop a plan for dealing with garbage and recyclables, and execute it as the trucks arrive on Saturday and Sunday.
T-shirt Design - Design the t-shirt for the Santa Fe Century and/or the Horse Farm Hundred.

We're also accepting requests for other positions. See the Volunteer Page for full details on what is available and info on free bennies.

Registration is now open for the Pink Pumpkin Pedal-Off. Sign in to the Members Area to register to ensure you get member pricing.

See full information about the event at the Pink Pumpkin page on the club web site. Don't use the Sign Up button on this page, go to the Members Area to get club pricing.

Adopt-a-Road Helpers Needed!

GCC’s Adopt-a-Road service group needs volunteers to help pick up litter along our 2-mile section of N. Main St during our quarterly cleanups. Tentative date for our next litter cleanup is Saturday, Oct. 27th. For more info, or to join us, email Ally Gill, call (352) 745-2011, or see the Service Group information and sign up area on the Members Area Me page.

Family Friendly Ride

Join the Gainesville Cycling Club for our monthly Family Friendly Ride from Depot Park down the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail to the Lake Alachua Overlook for a 9 mile round trip. A shorter option is to ride to the Sweetwater Overlook, which is a 6 mile round trip. Parents and helmets required. Tag-alongs and bike trailers welcome, but no training wheels. We will meet at the far end of the Depot Park parking lot (the lot by the pavilions). Don't forget your water bottles!

This event is FREE and you do not have to be a member of the Gainesville Cycling Club to ride with us. This event repeats the third Saturday of every month. Bring out the kids on September 15 at 9 am!

The GCC Store has been restocked with jerseys! We have a good supply of the Classic (gator on bike) jersey, and a small number of Eye4 and the new Retro designs. Also available are GCC cycling caps, water bottles, and mirrors. See the store page for full details.

We'll have the store at the Labor Day Picnic.
