Ride Schedule Availability

The Club's Ride Schedule is now available for use on a limited basis.

Posted rides are only visible to members of the posting Ride Group. We're doing this to limit the breadth of contacts that you'll be exposed to when participating in group rides. (Club rides are currently limited to GCC members who have signed the current release. No more than six persons can participate in a group on the road.) As the 3 pm snapshot of the Ride Schedule that is sent via GCCMail would include all Ride Groups, it will continue to be suspended.

There is a new option in the Ride Schedule to RSVP for a ride. Doing so will help the ride leader plan the ride (if more than six will attend there will need to be multiple on-road groups).

Membership Status

As previously reported, the Club has extended all existing memberships by one year due to the COVID situation.

During this time (starting this past November), the Club is recognizing any group (up to six riders) that consists of only GCC members who have signed the current release as an official Club ride. This provides you with coverage under our insurance policy.

We were able to build up our bank account during the early years of this century by running significant surpluses in the Gainesville Cycling Festival and Gainesville Brevet Series. This made it possible to suspend the dues and still meet our payment obligations.

As we are now able to cover you with insurance (the bill for which went up quite a bit this year), we'll resume collecting dues with memberships expiring in March.

We're in the process of printing and mailing new membership cards for all members. This will take a while as there are currently 839 of you.

Here's to hoping the vaccines do their job and allow us to put on a Club picnic or two this year!

Bicycle Friendly Community Public Survey

The City of Gainesville has applied to continue to be recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Community. Part of the process is getting feedback from Gainesville citizens on their experiences as a bicyclist in the city.

Here is the link to the survey:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/App_BFC_Sp21

The survey will remain open through Wednesday, March 31. This survey is open to anyone familiar with bicycling in our community.
