Tween Bees Riding Group
Group Captain: Barb WillsGroup Speed: 15-16 Group Distance: 30-45Ride Leaders Leslie Folkerth Bob Newman
The Tween Bees post rides occasionally with an average ride speed between the LoBees and the B-17's (15-16 mph). While the Tween Bees want all ride participants to have fun, safety is our first priority.
Safety first! During Tween Bee rides, all riders will be expected to follow general GCC safety protocols at all times. Helmets are mandatory! Riders must use hand and vocal signals to call out obstacles and to signal their intention to slow or stop. Riders must not overlap the wheel of the rider in front of them, and may not ride two abreast except on lightly trafficked roads or on designated motor-free trails.
The Tween Bees are a no-drop ride group so that no rider will be left at the side of the road due to a mechanical problem, flat tire or exhaustion. The designated ride leader may elect to appoint someone to stay with the affected rider if it is in the best interest of the group to keep moving (e.g., during extremely hot weather).
The Tween Bee ride leader assumes that all riders who choose to participate have adequate fitness to complete the ride at the designated average speed and distance. Riders are responsible for carrying adequate food and liquids to safely complete the ride, and must carry a spare tube or tire patch kit and air pump or canister to remedy a flat tire. Additionally, all riders must carry identification and emergency contact information in the event of an accident or injury.
This group does not currently have any rides on the schedule.
When you join the group (in the Members Area) you will be able to elect to receive instant email notifications of group ride postings.
Group membership is open to all Gainesville Cycling Club members. To join, sign in to the Members Area, go to the Ride page, and click on "Join A Group" just under the "Group Membership" heading.
