Tim's Fast Nickel Back in the Saddle
For many years riders of the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail and other rides in the area used the convience store of Tim’s Fast Nickel, located on the corner of CR 234 and Hwy 20 (Hawthorne Rd.), as a rest stop and a place to reload goodies for the remainder of their rides. Tim's was also a great place to cure the bonk after a long South ride. Alas, Tim’s fell victim to the economy and had to close it’s doors about year or so ago. On our Saddle Tramp ride today we saw a flurry of activity around the old building. The workmen there informed me that Tim’s would be re-opening on March 1st. Both the name and the owner will be changing however as Cantley’s Outpost, a similar type store will be re-locating from it’s present location further south on Hawthorne Road. We look forward to re-kindling the old relations and wish the new owners the best of luck.
They had not opened as of March 9, however.
