Cuba Expedition

by Caryl McKellar

Joyce Bono and I have returned from our cycling tour of Cuba. Members of GCC generously donated items that we delivered to young cyclists attending training schools in three provinces. The club and individuals also gave us money to defray the cost of flying with the two stuffed suitcases (airlines impose stiff fees to Cuba). Thanks to your help we brought more than any of the other tour participants.

Yoany, our tour mechanic and himself a racer, with one of our suitcases.

A few of the kids training in Havana.  They live at the school if their families are not local.

The students train in the mornings and then take usual middle or high school subjects in the afternoons.

Our group with the kids training in Santa Clara, Cuba.  The next day they cycled with us a few kilometers (until our pace bored them!)
