Life Memberships
The club has updated its Life Membership program.
Previously, when your membership expired after your 75th birthday, you were designated a Life Member and are charged no additional dues. The new policy does not affect any current Life Members.
Each year for the next five years the age required to achieve Life Membership will be advanced one year at the end of July. The effect of this is that the additional dues payment required to "buy in" to a Life Membership will stay about the same during that period.
We made this change to limit the cost to the club of carrying Life Members. We pay insurance for each club member, and have some other expenses associated with member participation in events.
The purpose of the Life Member program is to keep long-time bicyclists in the bicycling community as their ability to participate declines. This policy update will more effectively serve that purpose.
