Bike Valet Sunday

by Ally Gill

Gainesville Cycling Club will be hosting Bike Valet again at Active Streets/352 Creates  2018 free street closure event next SUNDAY (FEB. 25TH).

The event is once again being held in and around Depot Park. The street closure for this event will be on a part of Depot Avenue that is east of Main Street.

If you’ve ever driven a car to Depot Park, you know what a nightmare it is to find parking nearby, right?

So, avoid that headache, ride your bike, instead, and encourage others to do the same!

I need 6 volunteers who are willing to help staff the GCC Bike Valet area.  Good record-keeping skills, and a love of talking bikes are highly desirable for this assignment.  You will be expected to help do some light lifting if your assigned to set-up or tear-down.  Volunteers are needed for the following 2-hour shifts:

10 a.m.-12 noon (includes set-up)
11 a.m.- 1pm
12 noon-2 p.m.
1-3 p.m.
2-4 (includes tear-down)

Advantages of helping with Bike Valet are that you will already be at Depot Park to enjoy the event during your off-duty time, and we’ll keep an eye on your bike, too!  Food, beverages, and rest rooms are on-site.

Email me at gillallyson@gmail.com and provide your phone number and preferred time slot.  Please let me know if you are willing/able to stay longer (overlap with another shift), or work more than one shift.   I will assign on a first-come/first-served basis, so don’t wait.

Come help us provide a free community service that promotes cycling and GCC!  It’s going to be a great event.
