Gainesville City Commission Candidate Forum

to Focus on Active Transportation Issues

on Tuesday, February 6, at 6:00 PM

at Santa Fe College CIED Building, 530 W. University Ave.

 

Gainesville Citizens for Active Transportation (GCAT) is hosting a Gainesville City Commission candidate forum to focus on active transportation issues such as bicycling, transit, pedestrian and disability access.

All five Gainesville City Commission candidates are expected to attend. The forum will be held on Tuesday, February 6 at 6:00 PM at the Santa Fe College Center for Innovation and Economic Development, 530 W. University Ave.  The forum is free and open to the public.

Election Day is Tuesday, March 20, with two City Commission seats on the ballot: At-Large Seat 1 and District 1.  Early voting runs daily from March 10 to 17 at three voting sites:  Supervisor of Elections office downtown at 515 N. Main St., and at the Millhopper and Cone Park libraries.

Gainesville Citizens for Active Transportation (GCAT) is a nonprofit social welfare organization formed to advocate for complete streets practices that promote cycling, walking, disability access, and transit through education and advocacy for a safe and convenient network of multi-use trails and streets. Active travel strengthens connections in neighborhoods, and enhances our community’s quality of life, health, environment, and economy. GCAT envisions a community in which active transportation is a viable and attractive option for all.
