Bike Overnight: Hogtown to the Heights EVENT FULL!

Ally Gill

**EVENT IS NOW FULL!!**

In honor of Adventure Cycling Associations' national Bike Overnight Weekend, GCC and Adventure Cycling Association members Ally and Andrew Gill will lead a small group of riders on a relatively flat but scenic out-and-back bike tour starting in Gainesville, FL on Friday June 3rd and ending at Gold Head Branch State Park in Keystone Heights, FL.  We will stay 2 nights (since there is a 2-night minimum cabin rental on weekends) and ride back to Gainesville on Sunday, June 5th.  The level of difficulty on this ride is EASY. If you have ever ridden 30 miles at a stretch, you can do this! The pace will be that of the slowest rider, or conversational, whichever is faster. We will ride in the road, for the most part, on in-town, low-speed roads, rural 2-lane roads with and without bike lanes or shoulders, and at least part of the ride will be on the car-free, paved Lake Butler-Palatka Rail Trail. There will be an opportunity to ride on a 3/4-mile dirt road shortcut, should we choose to use it, depending on what bikes we are all riding.

Once we arrive at Gold Head Branch State Park, we will stay overnight in semi-rustic cabins built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s. Since we're staying 2 nights we'll have time to do some hiking, canoeing, or just enjoy relaxing in this beautiful park that features steep ravines through which spring-fed creeks run.

We will share 2 cabins. Each cabin sleeps 4, max (in 2 double beds). Cabins are air conditioned, have a full bathroom and a kitchen equipped with fridge, stove, coffee maker, and microwave, as well as dishes, pots, and utensils.  Linens are also provided.

Although it's now too late to join us on this adventure, contact Ally Gill @ ally.gill@gainesvillebikemafia.com if you are interested in future overnight bike trips.

*** CANCELLATION POLICY:    There is none.  Short of a hurricane, inclement weather will not cancel the ride.  If it's raining, we will just don our rain gear and ride on!***
