Gainesville Senior Games Registration Now Open

The Gainesville Sports Commission (GSC) is proud to announce registration for the 14th Annual Gainesville Senior Games presented by UF Health is now open! Hundreds of athletes ages 50 year and older from Alachua county and across the state of Florida will be competing in 11 exciting sports events from October 3-12, 2014.

This year’s Senior Games will feature archery, basketball shooting, basketball 3 on 3 half court, bowling, cycling, golf, swimming, table tennis track and field, 5K road race and new this year…Billiards! The billiards competition will be held at the Elder Care Senior Recreation Center on Sunday, October 5 and will feature a men’s and women’s 8-ball tournament. The schedule of events for the 14th Annual Gainesville Senior Games is as follows:

Each athlete will be competing for gold, silver and bronze medals in their age group and a chance to qualify for the State Senior Games in Lee County on December 6-14, 2014. This year is also a qualifier for the National Senior Games in St. Paul/Minneapolis, MN July 3-16, 2015. Age groups for events will be divided into five year intervals.

This local Senior Games is sanctioned by the Florida Sports Foundation and is a qualifier for the Florida State Senior Games Championships.
