Wheels and Wings - Punta Gorda
July 6th will be the fifth Wheels and Wings in Punta Gorda, Fl.
Highlights of what is going on: For those coming in Friday the 4th, all are welcome to join the Peace River Riders for their annual Inalienable Right to Ride Ride, 8 a.m. from Gilchrist Park in the middle of Punta Gorda. All riders welcome. After the ride, join us as we participate in the 25th annual Freedom Swim across Charlotte Harbor. This is a 1 1/2 mile open water swim with about 250 other crazies. Then of course Friday night fireworks.
Saturday we will have early packet pickup at 615 Cross St, Punta Gorda, just look for the Peace River Riders Canopy. Saturday night is the Peace River Riders Annual President's No Spandex Pub Ride as we visit 6 of our towns favorite pubs.
Sunday is the day. 15/32/50/62 mile rides, a Gentleman's Race, Speed Trap Alley (beat the posted speed limit and receive from our very own Punta Gorda Police Department a Speed Warning Ticket suitable for framing) 10 Wings, two Beverages, and for tor the first 275 preregistered riders, a beautiful, collectable Pint Glass perfect for your favorite beverages. Pre-registered riders also receive a gorgeous t-shirt. And finally, help us set the new world record for the most spandex clad people performing the Electric Slide as we take Wheels and Wings into the history books. All this for $30 pre-registration, $40 day of.
