Tour of the Quilt Country

by Todd Leedy

Sunday, May 4, at 8:00am
Nature Coast State Trail
Trenton, Florida 32693

The GCX group is pleased to announce a limerock stage ride on Sunday 4 May as a last hurrah prior to the long season of hot months. Gilchrist and Levy counties each have quilt shops and quilt museums, so it is obviously "quilt country." But they also have a great network of low traffic limerock roads. We'll mostly be riding on a mix of farming and timber roads so a CX bike is optimal. You will see only one traffic signal over the 107 mile route.

The ride consists of two separate loops: North loop (62 miles) and South loop (45 miles). Riders will roll out of Trenton on the north loop in the AM, return to parking area for a lunch stop, then do the south loop in afternoon. A post-ride meal or ice cream at the Quilt Shoppe restaurant is also an option. Those looking for a shorter day can skip the afternoon session but that means you'll miss an option to swim in the Suwannee if the weather is agreeable.

Park at the Nature Coast Trail right next to the Suwannee Valley Quilt Shoppe.

This ride is unsupported and you will need extra bottle(s) as there are no refueling stops on either loop. Bring your own lunch too!

Route will be posted during the week prior to ride.  For more info click here.
