Cranksgiving Alley Cat Ride

from Ally Gill

The Kickstand is hosting an Alley Cat ride called Cranksgiving on Sunday, 11/24/13 (the Sunday before Thanksgiving) to raise donations for St. Francis House.

The event starts at 2:00 p.m. at The Kickstand's new location: 1123 SE 4th Street, Gainesville, FL

Cyclists of all abilities are welcome!  Groups are encouraged!

Alley Cats are races, but don't let that intimidate you.  The event is essentially a food donation scavenger hunt. Participants pay no registration fee, but are expected to spend $10 (more or less) of their own money while riding the route, along which small nonperishable grocery items will be purchased at participating grocery stores, in accordance with a "manifest" we will all be given with specific step-by-step instructions.  Sound mysterious? That's part of the fun! You must save all receipts from each purchase made along the course. Obviously, the first person back with a complete grocery list wins.  But, really, St. Francis House wins when we all roll in after a fun 10-15 mile ride with panniers and backpacks full of lots of food donations to help the feed the homeless at the holidays.
