4th Annual Florida Tandem Rally
Oct. 25th - 27th, 2013 in The Villages, FL
You are invited to attend the Fourth Annual Florida Tandem Rally in "Florida's Friendliest Home Town", The Villages, Florida. This is a great location for tandem riding and "It is always a beautiful day in The Villages".
Where is The Villages? It is a very active retirement community of approximately 105,000 residents, at last count. It is located in the center of Florida, 24 miles south of Ocala, FL, just off of highway 301 or highway 27/441.
The Waterfront Inn will be your host for the weekend and a rate of $99.00 will be available for those attending the rally. Cut-off date for rooms will be 24 September 2013.
Rides and Events
All routes will start and end at the Waterfront Inn. All routes will pass by convenience stores for rest stop and you will be on your own for snacks and refreshments. See the ride descriptions below.
Friday's Ride
The rides on Friday will be 25 miles to 49 miles in length. There will be no official starting time, so you may ride at any time during the day.
Friday's Social
All who register will be invited to attend an ice cream social at the Waterfront Inn on Friday evening. This cost is included as part of your registration.
Saturday's Ride and Lunch
Multiple rides from 32 to 62 miles will be available for Saturday with an end-of-route lunch at RJ Gators Resturant at Sumter Landing. This lunch is included as part of your registration.
Saturday Evening Banquet
This will be a buffet meal held at Laurel Manor Recreation Center, less than two miles from the Waterfront Inn. This meal is included as part of your registration.
Sunday's Ride
Routes for Sunday will be 31 or 42 miles in length.
Application
Fill out the Application Form and mail it to the address on the form along with your payment. If you enjoy riding with tandem friends from the Southeast and Central Florida, make your plans now to attend. It will be an event you will remember.
Extend Your Tandem Vacation
We have over a dozen tandem teams living and riding in The Villages. You are invited to spend the week before or after FTR2013 to ride with us. You are assured to have good roads, routes and tandem teams to ride with every day you are here. Accommodations are reasonable and easy to find at this time of the year, and most give you access to all of the other recreation and entertainment offered in The Villages -- golf, swimming, tennis, dancing, restaurants and so forth.
