Join Your Group!

by Roger Pierce

The core of what the GCC does, riding bikes, is done in riding groups.  If you're riding with the club (and you should be if you're a member!), you're riding with one of our many riding groups.  If you're not familiar with riding groups, go to the main web site and point to Rides, then click on Riding Groups.

It's important that you actually join the group that you ride with.  Do this by going to the Ride page in the Members Area.  Scroll down below the Ride Schedule, and click on "Join A Group".

When you are in a group, you can receive emails when a ride is scheduled, and you'll be on the group's email list.  If you're not a member, you may miss an important notice, such as a weather cancellation, or a last minute change in the ride start. We recommend that you keep the election to receive emails when a group ride is posted or modified.

We're beating on Group Captains and Ride Leaders to stop using GCCMail for notices that are specific only to their group.  So it's important that you join your group to get group updates, and allow your leaders to stop using GCCMail for group communications.
