Archer Braid Trail Opening

by Ally Gill

Celebrate the grand opening of the Archer Braid Trail on Saturday, June 15th at 10:00 am at the Archer trailhead with a ribbon cutting ceremony, a bike parade, a bike rodeo, raffled prizes, free giveaways, bike helmet giveaway with free expert fitting, health screenings and more family-friendly fun.  The trailhead is located at the base of the Archer water tower on US 27/41, about 0.1 of a mile south of Archer Rd.

We're looking for a few more volunteers to help with the Bike Rodeo.  Email if you can help.  Also email if you have something to donate for the raffle.

FDOT will have a representative there, so this event is a good opportunity for cyclists who support building more cycling infrastructure, and expansion of of Florida's multi-use trail system, to speak directly to the people who make it happen.

Special thanks to the event sponsors: The Archer Chamber of Commerce, City of Alachua, Archer Ace Hardware, Archer Automotive, Chain Reaction Bicycles, Dowling Signs, Gainesville Cycling Club, Law Offices of C. David Coffey, PA, Maddox Foundry and Machine Works, Midwest Feed, Save A Lot, Sana Fe College Davis Center, The Sustainable Design Group, UF College of Nursing.
