Ride Schedule

Most of our rides are announced on GCCMail, an email listserv. To be on the listserv, you must be a GCC member. These messages can be viewed at the SimpleLists website (updated once a day at about 6 pm). Those listed below are those with enough structure in their scheduling to allow us to put them here. But you should always check your GCCMail to verify the details for any particular ride.

MOST RIDES WILL START AT 8 AM UNTIL OCTOBER.

Sunday Brunch at PJ's

Ride on the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail and meet at PJ's in Hawthorne for Brunch at about 10:30 am (if you're a little early or a little late it is no big deal, this is not a formal gathering!).

PJ's is about 17 miles from Boulware Springs, and about 11 miles from the Rochelle parking area. Or start your ride in Hawthorne and do the brunch after finishing. (PJ's is in a shopping center on the east side US 301 north of downtown Hawthorne.)

Due to the nature of trail riding, we don't have big groups out there riding. This is your opportunity to get together with other like minded cyclists while doing a trail ride.

You may be the only cyclist there on a particular Sunday, but you'll still get good food. Or, we may pack the place!

Tuesdays and Thursdays

NORTHWEST RIDES (NW 53rd Ave and NW 43rd St)
Start meeting at 5:45 pm for a 6 pm SHARP departure. (Watch GCCMail for exact meeting times due to sun conditions). Fast, hard, training ride. This ride usually ends up being pretty fast with speeds hovering around 25 mph for most of the ride with attacks reaching 30 mph at times. We do NOT wait for those that get dropped, unless there is a mechanical reason. Please be familiar with the NW part of Gainesville.

HIPP RIDES
These rides are not sponsored by the Gainesville Cycling Club
Meet at the Hippodrome State Theater in downtown Gainesville at 6 pm for a race paced ride with several sprint points. Expect racing tactics and behavior. Make sure your health insurance is paid up, and notify your next of kin.

Wednesdays

DeSoto Park -- Juniors (but not just for juniors):
We invite anyone who wants to come out and join us to do so. We are changing the starting location in hopes of getting away from what has become a pretty busy road as of late (Millhopper). We are moving the ride start to Desoto Park. This is the park that is located at the intersection of 441 and 25A (NW 120th lane) this is just south of Hague. We will be riding the back roads for about an hour or so at a moderate pace (15-19mph). The pace will be dictated by the participants, we will not leave anyone out on the course.
Time: 6:00 pm sharp, this is when we leave!

Huan's A Ride
Meet at Chevron at 5:50 pm, rollout at 6:00 pm'ish. Ride is around 30 MILES. Group stayed together, ie, no drop policy, til the last 6 miles. Average speed is around 19-20 mph (ride speed is around 20-23 mph). Sprint to top of Chestnut Hill for the metal post on right, and sprint for the green Gville City Limit sign at the end. Helmet required.

Thursdays

Gliders do a 40 mile or so retirees ride. Working stiffs on vacation are welcome. Meet at NW 53rd Ave and NW 43rd St at 8:30 am, briefing at 8:35.

How Ride Times Are Set

Rides are held every weekend. From October through April, most rides meet at 9 am; from May through September most rides meet at 8 am. The time changes occur on the first full weekend of May and October. Not all groups use the standard starting time; consult individual group schedules or ride announcements for actual times.
