12th Annual Horse Farm 100 a Moist Success

Due to the UF football schedule the ride was moved to October 4 from its normal late October starting time. Any other weekend in October 1992 would have been gorgeous, but we got stuck with the one with a tropical depression. Despite the conditions, turnout was good, with 140 preregistered riders joined by 38 day-of-ride registrants and at least 4 bandits (a revenue loss of $50--enough to pay for the postage on the last newsletter). Fifty six preregistered riders did not sign in, and we know some of the riders who did sign in chickened out; our best guess is that around 170 riders rode.

Those responsible for a very successful ride this year were co-chairmen Craig Lee and Bill Cochran with Roger Pierce on preregistrations and Chandler Otis providing sage advice. The volunteers who added some yeoman work as the ride approached and proceeded included Jennifer Fordyce; Shelly, Lance and Miles Gaines; Dave Wagner; Pat Bentsen and the amateur radio persons; Karelisa Hartigan; Kevin McCarthy; Mary Lynch; Lew Sussman; Larry Kiser; Jimi Morris; Jan Lautner; Jeanne Repetto; Jerry Tidwell; Maureen Peterson; Susanne Hall; Beth Leermakers; Chris Stanton; Gail Collins; and Mike Escalante.
