PRESS RELEASE

Gainesville Cycling Festival, October 18-19, 2008
Gainesville, Florida

Meet the challenge and ride two centuries in two days. Or choose shorter options to take in the best of the riding in north central Florida.

Saturday features the Santa Fe Century, a tour through the lush forest and pasture land north of Gainesville up through the Santa Fe River valley. The ride begins with a trip through the historic town of High Springs, with a stop at the restored railroad station for refreshments. The Century traverses the scenic tree-lined Feagle roads in Columbia County, and then crosses Union County on its way to Worthington Springs. The final pit stop is at a roadside park once frequented by Ponce deLeon. There is also a 56 mile ride.

Also on Saturday is the Millhopper Ramble, an 18 or 27 mile family ride.

Sunday sees the 28th running of the Horse Farm Hundred, a tour through the picturesque horse farms of northern Marion County. We start at Loften High School on East University Avenue. Also available are the Horse Farm Tours, shorter rides starting from Flemington that take in the best of the Horse Farm scenery.
