Memorial Day Picnic

Monday, May 25
Hart Springs

4240 SW 86th Ave, Bell, FL

Hart Springs

Ride the back roads of Gilchrist County to work up an appetite and a need to jump in a cool spring. Time your arrival for gate-opening at 9 am if you will be doing a ride from Hart Springs. Food is planned for noon. The club will provide a main course; bring side dishes, salads, and deserts, and a lawn chair. PLEASE RSVP if you are going to eat the main course.

Entry into Hart Springs is $4 per head ($2 seniors), max $12 per car. If you are arriving by bike, please stop and pay (those doing rides from the park don’t have to pay to get back in).

Hart Springs is 37 miles from I-75, about 45 minutes. Take SR 26 west from Gainesville (Newberry Road). When SR 26 takes a big left, continue straight onto SW 85th Lane, and then turn right onto CR232. Go 4 miles and turn left onto CR344. The park is on the right before you get to the end of the road.

RSVP in the Members Area.

The Challenge Is On!

The GCC National Bike Challenge team has surged into first place. There are several teams that are putting up a fight, so we need to keep logging in those miles.

The remarkable thing is that we've been able to do this with only about half of our team members logging miles! Of the 324 persons on the team, 157 have logged. If we can get everyone on board, this will be a runaway.

For more detailed info on mile logging and signing up, see the last eNews in the Archives.

Calling Commuter Cyclists

The Swamp, May 30

Calling commuter cyclists, again! The GCC Commuters Group will hold its second quarterly get-together on Saturday, 30 May 2015 at 6 PM. This time we’ll meet at The Swamp restaurant, located at 1642 W. University Avenue. If you are interested in talking about commuter cycling – bikes, street etiquette, aggressive drivers, traffic law, commuting routes, and other pertinent topics – the Commuters Group is for you. We’ll develop ideas from the initial meeting and talk about best practices, and whatever else folks want to discuss that is germane to commuter cycling. Come one, come all! If you have questions, contact Stephen Perz, commuter captain, at stephen_perz@yahoo.com.

Please RSVP so we can reserve an appropriate table.
