Jersey Order Open

Because we hit the 100 item mark on our last order of the Classic jersey, we've locked in a very good price.  On reorders, we can get that price with a minimum order of only five items in each category (tops, bottoms, accessories).  So we've opened up a last chance order for the Classic jersey, which closes on Monday, November 18.

This is a chance to add shorts to match your new jersey that you got in the previous order, and/or arm warmers and a cap.  And the price available for top-of-the-line quality jerseys is unbeatable (except by the GCC Store, which has a limited stock from the fall order - check the store for available sizes).

Note that Voler offers two types of arm warmers.  There is a lightweight version which is basically jersey fabric, which is great for Florida winter mornings or for summer sun protection, and a heavier fleece lined version good for those colder mornings.

Voler also has some very nice technical undershirts which I have found fit well and are really comfortable.

This will most likely be your last chance to order a Classic GCC jersey for several years; we bring it out about every 3-4 years.  Get yours now.

Holiday Party

Friday, December 6
Holy Faith Church, 747 NW 43rd St

WHEN
Set Up and Social Hour at 5 pm
Dinner at 6 pm

EATING
The club will provide turkeys, soda pop, beer, and wine. Daryl Lachnicht will be doing a vegetarian main course for those signed up as vegetarians. Bring appetizers, side dishes, and desserts to complement the birds.

ACTIVITY: Secret Santa Gift Exchange at 7 pm.

If you would like to participate, bring a wrapped gift. The value of the gift should be around $20; it should be something that you would like to get; this is NOT a white elephant exchange. The gift should not be gender specific, as it may be assigned to any other participant.

Only those bringing a gift will participate. Bring only one gift per member (don't bring extras). We'll number the gifts, and participants will draw a number from a box to determine which gift they receive. There is no stealing, but you are free to barter exchanges with others if you choose.

RSVP!
You must RSVP to attend as there is a limit on the number of persons in the room. First come, first served.

Needed: A few good ovens

The 2013 GCC Holiday Party is on Friday, December 6.  We’re looking for a few members who can each roast a turkey, carve it up, and bring it to the Holy Faith Church before 6 pm.  If you work on Fridays you obviously are not a candidate (unless you need an excuse to take a vacation day).  The Club will buy the turkeys and provide an aluminum roasting pan.

The number of birds we’ll need will depend on the number who sign up for the event, but I’m thinking four should do it, so we need at least four ovens.  We’ll put any additional volunteers on hot standby in case we get a higher sign up than expected.

Reply by email if you have an available oven!

Veterans Day Poker Run

Registration is open for the 3rd Annual Veterans Day Poker Run to benefit Gainesville Fisher House. RSVP in the Members Area.

GCC 101: Insurance

We hope it never happens, but should you be injured while on a GCC ride contact the Club Insurance Officer to find out how to file a Report of Accident form for our insurance company. You will need your name, address, phone number, helmet manufacturer and model, bike manufacturer and model, name of your insurance company, description of injury, type of care required, location and description of accident, and names and addresses of up to three witnesses. Generally, if you are a GCC member, our insurance will cover what yours does not after the first is paid, up to ,000.

If you get into a liability situation on a GCC ride, our insurance is primary insurance. You are covered if you are a GCC member and have signed and dated a release.

This insurance only covers you while on a GCC ride or participating in a GCC event. Unfortunately, if you fall off your bike while riding to a ride, you are not covered. More importantly, rides that are not organized through the GCC are not covered. To qualify, a ride must be posted on the GCC Ride Schedule in the Members Area. Should you choose to organize a ride through non-GCC social media, ensure the participants know that they are not covered by the GCC medical insurance, and that liability coverage is through your homeowner policy.

(All GCC 101 topics can be found on the main website under Info.)
