Ride To Remember April 27

We still need a couple of volunteers to put out signs on the lower loops of the Ride To Remember. This involves driving a 25 mile loop out of Flemington to put out signs, and then after the ride, picking them back up again. It would be easy to put out signs and then ride one or both loops. Call Roger at 378-7063 or email if you can help.

With the ride only a little over two weeks away, it's time to get your registration in! Sign in to the Members Area for the expedited entry procedure for GCC members. For more information, see the RTR web page.

May 4 - Time Trial and Picnic

The GCC Time Trial Series third installment is May 4. See full info at this web page, and sign up in the Members Area

All club members are invited to come to our first picnic of the year at San Felasco City Park on May 4. Our theme again this year will be BBQ. We'll have meat from a local vendor, and prepare a scrumptious vegetarian version for those registered as vegetarians. Watch your email for the announcement and RSVP link.

Memorial Day Picnic

We're going to try and do our regular Memorial Day event at Hart Springs, and hope we don't get another hurricane! Watch your email for the announcement and RSVP link.

Jersey News

The official jersey order is in production, and will ship later this month. We'll have a few of these jerseys in stock, first come, first served. We'll publish details when we have them.

It's been several years since our last classic jersey order, so we're planning on doing one this summer (order deadline will be August 11). This will be your only chance to get one of these for several more years, so don't pass up the opportunity.

HubBub Helmet Mirrors

At the Annual Meeting, Melinda Koken demonstrated a helmet mirror by HubBub that was so impressive that a third of the attendees signed up to get one. By buying as a club, we'll be able to get them at a reduced cost (around ).

See http://hubbubcustom.com/store/proddetail.asp?prod=helmir for details.

To get a club logo customized version, we'll need to sign up more folks. Email Melinda to get your name on the list. If we don't get enough takers, we'll still order the generic version.

Outpost is Open

The Outpost convenience store on SR 20 at CR 234 in Rochelle is now open for business. This store is heavily used by cyclists on the nearby Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail.

Your Email Address

I've renamed the two email addresses that you can list in the GCC data base "Contact Email Address" and "Other Email Address". They had previously been labeled "Home" and "Work".

The "Other Email Address" will not be made available to other club members in queries and contact lists. We will continue to use it as a backup, and you will be able to subscribe it to GCCMail (your Contact Email can also be subscribed).

I did this because there are some folks who would like to receive GCCMail at work, but don't want that address published to the general club membership.

Selecting the "Hide my email address(es)" option will prevent the general club membership from seeing your Contact Email Address.

TOSRV Discount Code

Hello Gainesville Cycling Club,

The 31st Annual TOSRV South Double Century is open for registration. The event dates are April 20th and 21st 2013; registration closes April 17. You can find full details of the event at http://www.cccyclists.org/tosrv.

We are offering a discount to all cycling club and race team members for this year’s tour. Just use the code “cyclingclub2013” when checking out on the registration page.

Proceeds from TOSROV South will help benefit the Kids on Bikes program, which reaches out to over 3,000 kids. We do this by teaching the Florida Bicycle and Traffic Safety Program in Leon County Elementary Schools, partnering with children’s organizations such as Boys and Girls Club and taking them out on mountain bike rides as part of Trips for Kids and by hosting bicycle rodeos throughout town.

Feature Articles

We'd like to see some of our members write some feature articles for our web site. We know that a lot of you are out there doing interesting things, and would like to see more articles.

In the future, we'll have an interface that you'll be able to use to submit an article directly, but for now, just send it to Roger.

Currently, we have two feature articles up:
Send Team Florida to Nationals by Dustin White
Incoming Board Has Big Shoes to Fill by James Thompson

eNews News

If you do not want to receive eNews, you can opt out in the Members Area. Remember that we no longer publish a paper newsletter, so eNews is your primary "push" contact with the club. If you prefer to "fetch" your information, everything in eNews (including eNews itself) is available in the Members Area on the News page.
