A few of us who are getting ready for the Endless Summer Watermelon Ride are going to ride a metric on Sunday morning.

We will meet at 6:45 a.m. in the southeast corner of the Southwest Commuter Lot at UF, on Gale Lemerand Dr. (There's construction to the north of the lot on Gale Lemerand Dr., so, I don't think you can get there directly from University Ave. You will have to zig-zag around a bit...)

We will have maps,  and will set out at 7:00 a.m., after a brief rider meeting.

Riders need to be in condition to ride 64 miles at 15-16 mph (moving speed) with minimal stopping. This is an unsupported ride, which doesn't pass many convenience stores at all. Riders need to bring at least 2 bottles for hydration, at least one tube that fits their bike tires, ID and money/credit card to replenish fluids at the convenience store located approximately 35 miles into the ride. Temps are expected to be mid-80s when we finish, with a heat index in the mid 90s. (Probably similar to what we will experience on Amelia Island, just with fewer mosquitos.)

Call or text Kathy at 352-258-3541 for questions about this ride.
