Ad Hoc Ride The Tioga Riders are a "NO DROP" easy "A" ride. There will be some specific areas discussed before the ride where the pace may increase for short periods of time and the group naturally splits. We will regroup at major turns. Pace will typically fall around 19-23 mph but can vary depending on ride conditions. This ride is about having fun and building more fitness and confidence to make the jump to the full "A" rides. Occasionally there will be hare and hound games and even a sprint or two thrown in as well. Typical distance is 29-36 miles. MEET: Every Wednesday Evening 5:35pm; Roll out 5:40pm sharp! Flats and mechanicals are to be handled by a flat patrol if the group is large enough (as opposed to stopping the whole group on the side of the road). We will meet at Tioga Town Center in Jonesville, near the outdoor stage area. Ride plan is discussed and we depart at 5:40pm to make sure we have ample sunlight for a 1.5 hour ride during the next couple of months leading up to the time change. The Captain will try to announce the route before we meet so anyone can see where we will be going. Like other rides, I do not change the route because of wind direction (tail wind way in, etc.) because if you were ever to decide to participate in a sponsored and/or scheduled ride for which you pay for, there is nothing you can do about the wind. Foul weather will be decided on case by case. Pace obviously will be slower going up hill or into the wind and faster when down hill or with a tailwind. Tioga Riders will use both single and double pace lines and riders at the front will pull off to the left only. This group and its members will abide by all GCC group ride rules. The use of aero bars is not permitted on this ride unless approved by the ride leader well before the ride meets/begins.
