Riding Group Velo et Cafe Info Velo et Cafe GRAVEL RIDERS will meet at the first parking lot inside the North Entrance of Ichetucknee Springs State Park at 8:00 a.m. Bring your Florida State Parks Pass if you have one, or $6.00 for park entry. Or contact me if you want to car pool from the Chevron on 43rd and 53rd. We will aim to begin the ride by 8:15 a.m. This ride requires a gravel or mountain bike. The unpaved roads may be very rough and sandy. Expected average speed is 11-13 mph. A blinking rear light and a mirror are strongly recommended. Most of us will be riding mountain bikes. Be sure to bring a minimum of 2 bottles of electrolyte solution or equivalent. If you have a Camelbak, you may want to bring it as well, as summer heat goes well beyond the calendar date here in Florida, and store stops are a gift, not an expectation on gravel rides. This will be a bit of an adventure, as I have not rode this route before. But, I have faith in the people who have shared it. We will be out there for 4-5 hrs, so bring plenty of fluids, a snack or two, (or three, or four...) and a swim suit and/or change of clothes and towel for after the ride. We can enjoy the benefit of finishing near the cool Ichetucknee spring head. Lunch... We will have earned it....Maybe on the patio at the Great Outdoors restaurant in High Springs on our way home? Call or text Kathy at 352-258-3541 with any questions, or if you can't find us. |
