Protocol
These rides are for fun, fitness, and to enjoy looking at the countryside. You will need a road-capable bicycle, a helmet (required for safety), water, basic on-the-road repair tools, and enough stamina to complete the scheduled distance. The rides normally will be from 20 to 40 miles, and will average from 16 to 18 mph in pace line formations, sometimes traveling 20 to 21 mph when conditions are right. Rest stops will be planned every 45 to 90 minutes. The riders will try and keep the ride together, but riders who cannot maintain the pace of the group may be asked to find their own way home; they will not be left before being briefed on the route.
